Dear KCS Families,
My apologies for missing this week’s Friday Morning Meeting, while I need to be with an ill family member. I know that Kristin Roper will do a fabulous job leading, and the kids will do an amazing job sharing their recent learning. This week, Ms. O’Donnell’s class will be sharing their experiences with a guest teacher. Ms. Lyman’s class will be sharing about a STEM project, and Ms. Del Rosso’s class will be sharing a book with the theme of respecting differences.
As an FYI to caregivers, we have new teacher leaders for KCS who are my “go-to” for administrative tasks and decisions when I am out or not available. Kristin Roper and Christina DeFilipp will be sharing these responsibilities. We wanted to share this information with you, in case you are wondering why they may be taking on additional tasks beyond their regular teaching responsibilities (such as running Friday Morning Meeting when I’m out).
A huge thanks to KCPTA for hosting the Ice Cream Social this week. The playground was full of children playing and family members socializing, which hasn’t happened for three years at KCS. What a wonderful sight to see! We look forward to seeing our families at many other events this year.
Over the past few weeks, students have been learning and practicing how to play safely on the playground during recess. Here is a slideshow to give you a sense of some of the expectations that they have been learning. STARS at recess

Fri, Sept 30th - Friday Morning Meeting - 8:30 am at KCS Gym
Mon, Oct 3rd - NWEA testing window opens, look for schedule details from your child’s teacher
Mon, Oct 3rd - School Board of Directors meeting - 6pm at Kennebunk Elementary School
Tues, Oct 4th - KCPTA meeting - KCS Library ~ 5:30-6:30 pm
Wed, Oct 5th - early release - noon dismissal
THE KCPTA is happy to once again offer a printed Kennebunkport Consolidated School Student Directory (aka “Green Book”) for the 2022-2023 school year. We find it is a great resource to contact friends (new and old!) for play dates/birthday parties, etc. Click here for more information and to submit your directory information for this purpose. The deadline for the form is Friday, September 30.
Grade 5 families, this is a friendly reminder band sign-up forms are due back next week.
