Kennebunkport Consolidated School ~ Tel-u-Gram  for Friday, March 3rd, 2023

Dear KCS Families,

This week has been an unusual one. Coming back from a vacation week to a snow day to our Wellness Day. It’s been hard to get students, and staff, back into a solid routine, but we did have a lot of great fun!

For Wellness Day, our students participated in a variety of activities all to promote health and well-being. Activities ranged from nutrition topics to exercise and movement. We even had a few crafts included. Students were able to get hands-on with the activities. Ask your child what their favorite activity was. A huge thanks to all the staff who helped to organize the event and the many volunteers who helped out, which included some community members!

At this week’s Friday Morning Meeting, students will share with us about the learning that they’ve been doing in their allied arts classes connected to the Renaissance era. From archery to inventions to art… they’ve been engaged in some wonderful learning activities. A big thanks to our allied arts team who works collaboratively to integrate studies when appropriate. Our students benefit greatly from these experiences.

Warm Regards,

Karen Bubar, Principal

HELP NEEDED - Additional SUPERVISION at Play Practice:

Additional volunteers are needed at play rehearsals, particularly the "all cast" rehearsals. We are thrilled that so many students are participating in the play, but we could use additional adult supervision to make rehearsals run smoothly. Any amount of help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Lastly, you do NOT have to fill out the school volunteer form to help out with the play, so if you haven't done that yet don't let that deter you from signing up.

Also, a friendly reminder, for play practice, please use the door near the music room / Gymnasium entrance instead of coming through the main school entrance. There isn’t always someone available in the office after hours to let people in and out of the building.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to play director Emily Gannon at KCSschoolplay@gmail.com

Scholastic Book Fair

Save the Date for the Kennebunkport Consolidated School Scholastic Book Fair: March 13-17, 2023!

Students and staff will be able to stop into the Library and purchase a variety of their favorite books to take home forever.

This year, your children can bring cash to spend, or use Book Fair eWallet. It's okay to just browse, too. Learn more at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/kcs.

Parents and caregivers -- On Wednesday, March 15th, we're staying open after 2:45 dismissal until 4 p.m. Stop into the KCS Scholastic Book Fair after school to shop as a family!

Ms. Welles needs parent and staff volunteers to help the fair go smoothly! If you're interested in helping out, please email her at lwelles@rsu21.net.

Community Resources

In a moment of crisis, you do not have to be alone. Sometimes you need a conversation--not an internet search.

Dial 2-1-1 for the Maine Hotline. This service can help with issues like acute crisis, financial assistance, mental health, addiction treatment, health care, or heating and utilities assistance. Additionally, the national Suicide Hotline is 9-8-8.

Here is a list of more resources available to everyone throughout our district and beyond.
